Friday, October 10, 2008 marked my two-year anniversary with
Skywire Software (we were recently acquired by
Oracle). Ashley and I did go to dinner on Friday night but not in celebration of my anniversary. Rather, in celebration of Friday and the end of the work week, we had dinner at
Bolsa, located on Davis just west of the
Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff. Ashley had been to Bolsa the week prior with a girlfriend and recommended I give it a try. I loved it. The atmosphere was great, absent was a sense of pretentiousness often found in Dallas. The food and wine (
Santa Carolina) were excellent, I had the Jimmy's Sausage flatbread and Ashley had the mussels. Perhaps the greatest feature was the location. Given that this was Texas/OU weekend in Dallas, we were able to avoid the crowds and traffic by visiting a restaurant located off of the beaten path. Most Dallasites' roots are planted so deeply in the Uptown/Park Cities/Downtown soil, they would never in their wildest dreams imagine having dinner in Oak Cliff on a Friday night. If that means I don't have to wait for a table, that's fine with me.
On Saturday morning I watched
ESPN's College Gameday (live from the
State Fair of Texas in Dallas) before Ashley and I payed a visit to the
Dallas Museum of Art. We saw the
King Tut exhibit and I have to admit, I was slightly underwhelmed. Tickets were $32.50/person before a $3 student discount. Although the items being displayed were very cool, it seemed the number of items displayed was very low (high quality, low quantity).
On Saturday night, Ashley and I met our friends Kreg and Tracy for dinner at
Mattito's in Frisco before walking across the street to watch
FC Dallas take on
Toronto FC. Although the match ended in a draw, FC Dallas gained a much needed point and, with only two games left in the regular season, are now in sole possession of 4th place in the Western Conference. If they can stay at or above 4th place, they will be a part of the MLS postseason.
Below is a picture, taken with my cellphone, of
Kenny Cooper who had each of the FC Dallas goals.

Today, Ashley and I have in front of us an exciting day of studying, laundry and cleaning the apartment.
